چکیده

A software system aimed at the simulation of fire spread over complex topography is presented. The software implements a semi-empirical model for fire rate of spread, which takes as input local terrain slope, parameters describing fuel properties as well as the wind speed and direction. Fire shape is described with recourse to an ellipsetype model. Two different models are implemented for the simulation of the wind field. Both these models predict wind velocity and direction based on local observation taken at meteorological stations. The whole system was developed under a graphical interface, aiming at a better ease of use and output readability so as to facilitate its application under operational conditions. This work describes the mathematical models employed, provides an overview of the graphical interface and presents the results of some simulations tested against experimental data.

An OGC-WS Framework to Run FireStation on the Grid

The CROSS-Fire project aims to develop a grid-based framework as a risk management decision support system for the civil protection authorities, using forest fires as the main case study and FireStation as the standalone CAD application that simulates the fire spread over complex topography. The CROSS-Fire initial tasks focussed on the development of a parallel version of the fire simulator eng...

Simulation of Metro Train Fire in an Underground Station of Tehran Metro Line 7

In this research a fire scenario was simulated in one of the stations of the line 7 of Tehran's subway system. The Line 7 is under construction and the ventilation system is under design. Fire was set for a stopping metro train at the platform of the station. A 160 meter length eight-car metro train with the forth wagon on the fire was studied. The heat release rate is based on a quadratic f...

Forest Fire Potential Modeling and Simulation of its Extension Using Remote Sensing Data and GIS: (A Protected Area of Arasbaran)

Forest fire models are generally used in different aspects of fire management and are helpful in understanding and prediction of fire behavior. Forest fires cause a significant damage for public property by destroying a large tract of forest.  This helps fire fighters to focus on an area with greater risk and to develop better substructure for fire fighter training and ultimately to plan fire-f...

DEVS-FIRE: design and application of formal discrete event wildfire spread and suppression models

DEVS-FIRE is a discrete event system specification (DEVS) model for simulating wildfire spread and suppression. It employs a cellular space model to simulate fire spread and agent models that interact with the cellular space to simulate fire suppression with realistic tactics. The complex interplay among forest cells and agents calls for formal treatment of the fire spread and fire suppression ...

Application and Status of the Farsite Fire Area Simulator

Fire growth simulation is the modeling of fire spread and behavior across landscapes with heterogeneous fuels, weather, and topography. FARSITE is a computer program designed to simulate fire growth using existing models of fire behavior found in BEHAVE (Andrews 1986) and in the Canadian Forest Fire Behaviour Prediction System (Forestry Canada Fire Danger Group 1992). There are numerous uses fo...
